The North County Justice Allies are responding to the need for emergency shelter for asylum seekers. Please consider giving a donation to support our efforts in the name of family and friends this holiday season. Your gift will help provide shelter, food, medical care and other basic necessities that are keeping families together.
When you donate, you will receive a card(s) featuring artwork created by asylum seekers, which you may send to those that you have donated in honor of.
The NC Justice Allies are working with Safe Harbors to provide both physical and emotional support to asylum seekers. With the shelters over capacity and chaos at the border, we have assembled a team of volunteers who offer temporary housing, rides, food, and assistance with medical needs and paperwork in North San Diego County. We also facilitate weekly Art Therapy groups at the Safe Harbors shelter in San Diego.
In the last few months we have worked with asylum seekers from Benin, Congo, El Salvador, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, Sierra Leon, and Venezuela. Most of the asylum seekers and refugees receive no assistance when they are released from processing centers or detention and rely on the support of shelters and volunteers.
